About Us

Randee Bonagura and Jessica Zimmer are the co-directors of Teachers Growing Teachers, Inc., a unique professional development company that offers (NYS CTLE-approved) hands-on workshops across the country.

Randee has been a teacher and administrator on Long Island since 1995. She received her doctorate in Literacy Studies from Hofstra University, and is currently an elementary school principal. In her first book, Embrace Makerspace, Randee shares her passion for creativity, tinkering and enrichment for all. Her recent TEDx talk about Little Free Libraries inspires educators to use their resources and help make the world a better place.

Jessica taught first, third, and fourth grades and served in a variety of roles including as a mentor and literacy/math coach, which fueled her desire to provide teachers with high quality professional development.  In 2014, Jessica joined the Wantagh School District and is currently an elementary school principal. She continues to grow as an educator while encouraging teachers to do the same. Her first published article in Vanguard, “Magical Phrases: Using Words That Connect Us with Parents,” allowed her to begin the journey of growing other educators through her own experiences.

Randee and Jessica can also be found presenting at conferences including LIASCD, LILAC, and LIAC, blogging passionately about education, and writing feverishly for various educational magazines.
